Bordeauxská doga
Podobá se mnohem více nedávno vyšlechtěnému bulmastifovi, než mnohem staršímu mastifovi, ale přezto je to velmi staré plemeno, původně užívané k lovu divokých prasat a medvědů v jižní Francii. Později sloužilo k pohánění skotu. Protože je to neohrožené zvíře, sloužilo také k zápasům v aréně s jinými psy.Bylo poměrně máloznáme mimo Francii, dokud se představitel plemene neobjevil v americkém filmu z roku 1989 s Tomem Hanksem.Jaktože hvězda filmu Turnera Hooch předvedla bordeauxská doga pozoruhodné výkony, zejména svou neúnavnou sílu, ostražitost vůčicizincům a také sklon napadat neznáme lidi, který opravdu má.

HISTORIE PLEMENE
Po celá staletí ovládali okolí města Bordeaux ve Francii angličtí králové. Velké hlídací psy z této oblasti často křížili s anglickými mastifi a s podobnými psy ze Španělska, takže získali mohutného a původně nezkrotného mastify. Poprvé byla tato doga vystavena v Paříži v roce 1863, podrobný popis byl zveřejněn až v roce 1896.
